Youth Worker

Location: Hull

Salary: £20,222 per annum

Closing date: 20/03/2019 23:59

Full and Part Time roles available

Hull College Group is one of the largest further and higher education colleges in the country, offering over 1000 courses to over 26,000 students every year.

We are looking to appoint a Youth Worker to join our Learner and Customer Services Team where you will work with the Student Union and act as an advocate for learners across the College. We have full and part time roles available – you will be asked which you prefer within your application form.

Within the role you will build meaningful and trusting relationships with learners, particularly those aged 14-19, supporting and inspiring them to want to behave well, stay in learning and achieve and make good progress. Following up on learners who are persistently absent by conducting home visits, you will re-engage them in learning whilst also conducting outreach and detached youth work in order to entice young people to take up learning.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with young people through informed Youth Work interventions, securing positive changes in behaviours. With acute and sensitive listening skills, you will act as a positive role model, exhibiting exemplar behaviours.

Having experience of promoting learning opportunities to young people and adults through schools, community organisations and events is desirable, as is having a JNC qualified Youth Worker status, however what is more important is that you are confident and have clear articulation skills.

Whilst the role is based at the Queens Gardens campus, you will be expected to make home visits from time to time.

Please be aware that this vacancy may close earlier dependent on the level of applications received so if you do wish to be considered we recommend that you complete the application as promptly as possible.

Please refer to the full Job Description when completing your application.
